Start Your Lash Business!
The eyelash extension industry has grown exponentially over the past few years and is predicted to continue growing! From natural to dramatic, eyelash extensions can give you the perfect lash look!
Hi, my name is Ashley and I have been a lash artist for over 8 years and have had the pleasure of working with over 800 clients! Today I'm going to discuss why now is your time to enter the lash industry, and if you'd like, start your own business & be your own boss!
One thing I have learned from being a business owner is that if you're looking to start a business, the best time to do so is when the industry you're looking to step into is growing. Luckily for you, the lash industry is one of them and new lash artists & lash businesses are in demand!
What Does It Mean To Have A Lash Business?
When one says, "I own a lash business", that can entail multiple things. You could own a lash business that sells lash extension products, but does not offer lash extension services, for example (or vice versa). Below are some examples of lash businesses:
a) Offering eyelash extension services (being a lash artist!)
b) Creating your own assortment of lash products.
c) a + b. Owning a business where you offer eyelash extension services & create your own assortment of lash products that you have available for sale.
*There is potential when perusing any of these options!*
How Do You Become A Lash Artist?
Here is what you need to do to become a lash tech (artist)!
1. First & most importantly, you need to check your state's laws about what is required to become a lash tech. In most states, you'll need to obtain either an esthetician or cosmetology license.
*It is important to keep in mind that traditionally in beauty school, you are not taught lash extensions, along with other things such as microblading, permanent makeup, lip fillers, etc. So with that being said, to offer services such as those, you'll need to source out additional training.*
2. Take a lash course! Online or in-person, there are many eyelash extension courses available! Here at Lashleys.Co, we offer many quality courses & our students LOVE them! Since they're online courses, we have made them available to anyone in the world! Click the link below to enroll or learn more about our academy!

3. Decide where you'll be offering your lash services. Will you be working in a salon? Will you rent out a studio? When you figure out where you'll be offering your lash services, you can then look into if you need to create an LLC, if you'll be employed by a salon.. basically this will determine what set up you'll need to have so you can pay taxes and document your income.
